"Havana" Good Time
Raising Money!

A big thanks to everyone who helped make our Havana Nights Fundraiser on April 30 a huge success!   Fortunately, Mother Nature smiled on us and we ended up with perfect weather for the event, much of which was held outdoors.  Over 170 guests, in all manner of festive attire, sipped Mojitos, enjoyed scrumptious Cuban fare catered by Zest Atlanta, and even smoked a few Cuban cigars while listening to live Latin music accompanied by lithe Latin dance performers.

While everyone had a good time, it wasn’t all about having fun. Attendees had the opportunity to hear two very personal stories of how one of our grant recipients, Camp Sunshine, has impacted their lives – one from former camper and cancer survivor Will Hennessy, the other from CCS resident Tom Tate whose own child benefited from the amazing support and services offered by Camp Sunshine.  With this touching reminder of the real focus of the event, Auctioneer Dean Del Vecchio encouraged the crowd to open their wallets and fast-talked bidders into raising over $26,000!  The silent auction raised the total haul for the night to $42,000.  As with your Membership and Patron donations, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of these funds will go to support our six large grant recipients.

A special note of THANKS goes to:

  • Pam and Bryant Scott who donated the use of their beautiful home for the event – and donated an item for the live auction.

  • Jen Passilla, Charity Guild Events Chair, who was in charge of planning this awesome event.

  • Jennifer Gabriel, Charity Guild Technology, who managed the ticket sales, website, silent auction and handled all the money.

  • Live auction donors: Pam and Bryant Scott; Allen and Tracy Hobbs; Ken Gary (who doubled his donation by allowing us to auction off his Bonita Bay condo twice); Paul and Marcy Hirshberg; and Todd Hickman.

  • Silent auction donors – too many to thank.  Your generosity is appreciated!!

  • Our many hardworking volunteers who collected, set up, took down, cleaned up, etc.

  • Our Corporate Sponsors: Grapes & Grains, TagRisk Insurance Services, Peggy Connors, Centennial Motors, Kayc Carper, Geri Eubanks and World Logo – we can never thank you enough! Your financial support helps us keep ticket prices down and cover event expenses – which means more money for our grant recipients!
